Area Information
The Villa is a few minutes from the principle medieval villages of Val d'Orcia, such as Monticchiello, and its Castello dei Cavalieri Templari, home of the renowned Teatro Povero; Pienza, the Renaissance dream of Pio II; Montepulciano, hometown of the distinguished humanist "Il Poliziano"; Montalcino and its exceptional wines; Bagno Vignoni, developed around an ancient Roman thermal pool; Chiusi Etruscan city of the VIII century A.C.; and Radicofani, with its fortress which dominates the valley. Val d'Orcia, rich in subsoil sulfur waters, hosts important and celebrated thermal centers which offer esthetic and healing treatments. A small distance away from the Villa the thermal centers of Montepulciano, San Casciano ai Bagni, Chianciano, Bagno Vignoni and Bagni San Filippo, are a perfect anti stress treatment for the care of both body and soul. Val d'Orcia, this fascinating oasis of nature and culture, is set among acres of olive groves, oak forests and vineyards....

Hosts were very helpful if you approached them, if you only speak English then you will get by. Hosts give you all the privacy you require and you may not even notice them living in the adjacent property. We had a lovely time here, but we bought a small pan so we could cook a couple of meals - we should have asked the hosts Diana and/or Tamara to lend us one, but we didn't want to be needy. We loved our stay here and would return to do it again

Our hosts were fantastic. They made sure we felt welcome. The views and the area was also fantastic. The house is quaint on a quiet road, but also close to Monteciello. In terms of amentities, the house literally has the bare minimal for preparing meals at home (there are lots of plates and dishes, but not many pans, knives, or cooking utensils). The house is also quite spacious. We were traveling with 3 children 8, 6, and 4, and they had lots of space to run around... July 2016

We had a wonderful stay at La Piana! Tamara and Diana were so warm and helpful. Our kids felt very much at home and had lots to do exploring the grounds. The villa is at a beautiful vantage point with gorgeous views on all sides, better than the pictures. We would love to return! June 2016

Wow. This place was totally perfect for our stay. It is far more beautiful than the pictures suggest -- the grounds are gorgeous and the house was everything we needed for our party of 6 adults, 2 children, and 1 infant. Our hosts were incredibly gracious, getting us a baby crib at the last minute, stocking the kitchen with a few essentials to get us going, helping with small things that popped up during the week. The view all around the property is like a painting. We took 400 photos that week and a good portion were probably of just the sunset view from the terrace. The location between Monticchiello and Pienza is ideal. We had such a wonderful time, truly. Thank you so much!!!! Sept 2015

Stupendous sunsets - definitely under the Tuscan Sun quality. We enjoyed our stay at the very spacious villa overlooking the Tuscan valley, and directly opposite the windy road track famous for a James Bond crash and slick sports car outings. In fact, directly outside the gates of the villa, which provide more than ample security, tourists come to get just the right shot of that roadway near Montecchielo. We had considerable difficulty locating the villa, as it does not have a road name recognized by most gps or (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps. You really need to use the GPS coordinates. I recommend getting them in advance and plotting your journey. Also, it would be good to confirm who will be meeting you at the villa and the timing thereof. The hosts who met us on our arrival were gracious, kind, informative and generous. They toured the villa with us, and left us with a good supply of staples from the region to make it through the night. Sweet! The location of the villa is ideal for those trips out to the many hilltop villages with picturesque vistas and stories to tell. The food in the region is superb and I echo the endorsement of La Porta restaurant at Montechiello - though you might want to call and make a reservation before you head there. Drawback is that there is no phone in the villa - so come equipped with your mobile. The wifi is decent but only works in the villa. Also, a word of warning, do not drive through any arches into the heart of the city. Park outside of the arches always! Otherwise you might find yourself in some very tight spaces. As for the villa itself, it is ample for 8 or 9 people, with old world charm and grandeur. It lacks the modernities, such as a microwave and a full oven, and sadly for us foodies - it lacks also such necessities as good knives, and different utensils/tools for cooking which could have improved our cooking experience immensely. There were however many lovely spaces to dine (outside and inside), and room for plenty of us. As for the other amenities: The showers had low pressure but were very clean and otherwise comfortable. All spaces of the villa were infused with beauty, but the terrace and the pool space were la creme de la creme. Truly, the views from the pool and terrace were singular, and it was satiating to drink them in together with the repast in the company of good friends. Aug 2015

Our host was very welcoming. She brought us a branch with fresh cherries hanging from it and provided extra blankets for warmth. Although she does not speak English we were able to get by with a bit of French and Italian and her daughter-in-laws assistance. The pictures do not capture the amazing setting and views. The location (midway between Pienza and Montepulciano) was a perfect base point to visit all of the nearby towns and villages and return to peace and quiet. The small town up the hill (Montechiello) was a wonderful place to call home base and the local restaurants Il Poste and the Cantina sister restaurant have some of the best food we ate in Tuscany and the owner of the Cantina Deborah was super helpful and great with wine recommendations. The town is about a 10-15 minute walk up hill, a lovely walk on a gentle slope. We would all definitely recommend this house to anyone wanting to visit the region. June 2015

Spent a week in this stunning villa in an absolutely beautiful area of Tuscany - with views straight out of guidebooks - and couldn’t have wished for a more relaxing week. Monticchiello is ten minutes walk away and has some fabulous restaurants - with obligatory views. The villa was very well appointed - lots of room, well equipped, lovely pool, and beautifully furnished. I’d go back in a heartbeat!!
