Truly unique vacation destination located in one of the most charming corners of Umbria. It is a luxurious and romantic residence with its own private pool/spa and wine cellar perched on a cliff which overlooks a magnificent Tuscan valley....an elegant retreat designed for travelers seeking to rest, to explore, and to enjoy the beauty of the area. The lodging is located in the heart of the town of Monteleone d'Orvieto within a medieval palazzo that was modified over four centuries and eventually was divided to become several elegant noble residences in the 1800's: the second floor of the palazzo complete with a beautiful terrace, the vaulted stables, and underground caves that were used to store local wine and olive oil production became “Mazzini 31” in 2012 after we purchased it in a state a disrepair. During the process of renovation we were astonished to discover hidden inner beauty as we stripped away layers of wallpaper, paint, and plaster to reveal an enchanting combination of wall and ceiling frescos which span four centuries. With the love and passion that distinguish all of our projects, we infused this noble treasure trove with elements of luxurious modern design and transformed it into a one-of-a-kind residence with 21st century comforts and old world charm. Located in the heart of a small village near Orvieto in Umbria and in one of the most beautiful spot of the Valley of the Chiana where Etruscans once roamed, this beautiful retreat is very centrally located at the border of Umbria and Tuscany and is less than 2 hours from Rome and Florence, less than one hour from Siena and Arezzo and within a half hour of the city of Perugia.You can do hiking and walking in the countryside and surrounding mountains, horseback riding, biking (we also provide 2 bikes). Visiting vineyards is also a great way to explore the area through its rich tradition of wine production. Some of the best of central Italy’s wineries are located here, like Antinori and Falesco. There is also a nice lake nearby, Trasimeno, so you could be on a beach sunbathing in 20 mins.
